Blizzard is fixing an overly strict name check in WoW Forever

Blizzard found a bug that blocked some allowed names in WoW Forever and will apply a fix at the next realm restarts.

A misty village at night in World of Warcraft: Forever

Blizzard says a bug in WoW Forever has been blocking some character names that should have been allowed.

The restricted name list is there to catch non-profane names the team still wants to keep out, “such as major Warcraft lore characters or names that are blocked for technical reasons.” The team has been working on that list, and a bug in the process made the check too strict, “incorrectly restricting names containing ‘c-o-n’.”

The fix goes in with the next realm restarts in each region. After that, if you already got “That name is restricted” on a name you think should have been allowed, Blizzard’s line is “please feel free to try again.”
